A refined and long-lived woodland perennial, Lathyrus vernus emerges in early spring with fresh, green foliage, soon followed by clusters of pea-like flowers held just above the leaves. The blooms open rich reddish-purple, gradually ageing through violet to clear blue, giving a subtle mix of colours on a single plant. Neat in habit and slow to spread, it is well suited to shaded borders or woodland settings where it can settle and return reliably each year.
Sold currently in 9cm pots.
Height: 30–40 cm
Position: Partial shade
Soil: Moist, humus-rich, well-drained
Flowering Time: April–May
