A distinctive and hardy species, Penstemon pinifolius is prized for its fine, needle-like foliage and vibrant tubular flowers. Unlike many other penstemons, this variety has a compact, low-growing habit, forming a dense mound of slender green leaves that resemble pine needles. From summer into autumn, it produces a profusion of fiery orange-red flowers that are highly attractive to bees and other pollinators.

Height & Spread: Reaches approximately 30-40cm in height and spreads to around 40-50cm.

Soil: Prefers well-drained, sandy or gravelly soils; thrives in poorer, drier conditions.

Position: Best in full sun; ideal for rock gardens, alpine planting, and dry borders.

Flowering Time: Early summer to autumn (June to October).
