Persicaria amplex. 'Dark Red'

£11.50

A striking, long-flowering perennial that produces slender, upright spikes of deep, velvety red blooms from midsummer through to autumn. The rich flower colour brings depth and contrast to borders, especially when paired with grasses or lighter-toned perennials.

Its broad green foliage forms a dense, clump-forming base that helps suppress weeds and adds strong structure. Unlike some Persicarias, ‘Dark Red’ is well-behaved and non-invasive, making it suitable for both formal and naturalistic schemes.

Thrives in sun or part shade, and is tolerant of heavy or damp soils — an easy, reliable performer with great seasonal value.

Sold Currently in 2 litre pots

  • Height & Spread: 90–100cm x 60cm

  • Position: Full sun or partial shade

  • Soil: Moist but well-drained; tolerates heavier soils

  • Flowering Time: July to October

Telegraph Top 20 Mail-Order Plant Nurseries

One of the Daily Telegraph’s Top 20 mail-order nurseries. The largest list of peonies in Scotland, ranging from herbaceous peonies, Itoh or intersectional peonies and tree peonies.

Gardens Illustrated 2019 Badge

One of Gardens Illustrated's 100 best plant nurseries in the UK: "Billy Carruthers is mad about peonies and has over 300 varieties on the nursery. In recent years he's exhibited them at the Chelsea Flower Show. However, they're just the tip of the iceberg for this nursery, midway between Glasgow and Edinburgh, Central Scotland"
