Persicaria 'Blackfield'

£11.50

Superb late-summer perennial, prized for its deep crimson flower spikes and long flowering season. The slender, upright blooms appear in mid to late summer and continue well into autumn, drawing in pollinators and adding bold vertical interest to the border.

The foliage forms a dense, bushy mound of green leaves that provides excellent ground cover. Unlike some persicarias, 'Blackfield' is well-behaved and clump-forming, not invasive, making it ideal for naturalistic planting schemes, cottage gardens, or prairie-style borders.

A reliable and undemanding plant that thrives in a range of soils, including heavy clay.

Sold currently in 2-litre pots.

  • Height & Spread: 80cm x 60cm

  • Position: Full sun or partial shade

  • Soil: Moist but well-drained, tolerates heavier soils

  • Flowering Time: July to October

Telegraph Top 20 Mail-Order Plant Nurseries

One of the Daily Telegraph’s Top 20 mail-order nurseries. The largest list of peonies in Scotland, ranging from herbaceous peonies, Itoh or intersectional peonies and tree peonies.

Gardens Illustrated 2019 Badge

One of Gardens Illustrated's 100 best plant nurseries in the UK: "Billy Carruthers is mad about peonies and has over 300 varieties on the nursery. In recent years he's exhibited them at the Chelsea Flower Show. However, they're just the tip of the iceberg for this nursery, midway between Glasgow and Edinburgh, Central Scotland"
