Pulmonaria rubra 'Rachel Vernie'
An easy early-flowering perennial for partial or full shade. This is a strong-growing selection with white-variegated leaves that don’t burn in the sun, which can sometimes be an issue with Pulmonaria rubra ‘David Ward’ (I can attest that the man himself, though, is perfectly ok in full sun).
Although Pulmonaria rubra ‘Rachel Vernie’ will grow in quite dry shade, it’s worth treating it to a moist site. You’ll be rewarded with a much more impressive show. After flowering, it still earns its keep as a foliage plant.
