A dramatic and distinctive shrub rose with velvety, near-black buds opening to deep plum-purple flowers, each highlighted by a pale eye and golden stamens. Lightly fragrant and repeat flowering, it brings a moody elegance to borders and larger plantings, where the dark blooms really stand out.
Naturally forming a tall, arching shrub, Rosa ‘Night Owl’ can also be lightly trained against a support or through a small obelisk if desired, rather than behaving as a true climber. Its flexible growth makes it adaptable, while the fresh green foliage provides an effective foil for the richly coloured flowers.
