A classic and distinctive rambler rose, Rosa ‘Veilchenblau’ is best known for its unusual colouring. Large trusses of small, semi-double flowers open a deep violet-purple, quickly softening through mauve to smoky blue-lilac as they age, often with a pale eye at the centre.
Lightly scented and produced in abundance in early summer, the flowers are carried on long, flexible shoots above healthy mid-green foliage. Once flowering but highly floriferous, it is ideal for scrambling through trees, over pergolas, or along large fences where its shifting colours can be appreciated at scale.
Sold currently as bare root.
Height: 400–500 cm
Position: Full sun or light shade
Soil: Moist but well-drained
Flowering Time: June–July
