Rosa spinosissima 'Mary, Queen of Scots'
A historic and characterful Scottish shrub rose, Rosa ‘Mary Queen of Scots’ produces softly scented, semi-double flowers in clear mid to dark pink, carried in generous clusters in early summer. The open blooms reveal prominent golden stamens, giving it a light, natural elegance rather than a formal rose look.
Closely linked to the Rosa spinosissima group, it forms a dense, thorny, and extremely hardy shrub, well suited to exposed sites, poorer soils, and coastal gardens. Dependable and long lived, it is an excellent choice for low-intervention planting schemes and traditional Scottish settings.
Sold currently as bare root.
Height & Spread: 1–1.5 m x 1–1.5 m
Position: Full sun
Soil: Well-drained, tolerant of poor or sandy soils
Flowering Time: June–July
