Calycanthus 'Hartlage Wine'

£29.50
sold out

A bold and beautiful deciduous shrub, 'Hartlage Wine' is grown for its large, rich wine-red flowers, each with a subtle hint of cream at the centre. Blooming from late spring through summer, the lightly fragrant blooms appear along strong, upright stems and contrast strikingly with the plant’s large, glossy green leaves.

This hybrid offers a more vigorous habit and larger flowers than traditional sweetshrubs, making it ideal as a specimen or standout feature in borders. Easy to grow and tolerant of a range of soils as long as drainage is good.

Sold currently in 4-litre pots.

Height & Spread: 2.5–3m
Position: Full sun to light shade
Soil: Moist, well-drained; adaptable
Foliage: Deciduous
Flowering Time: Late spring to summer

One of the Daily Telegraph’s Top 20 mail-order nurseries. The largest list of peonies in Scotland, ranging from herbaceous peonies, Itoh or intersectional peonies and tree peonies.

Gardens Illustrated 2019 Badge

One of Gardens Illustrated's 100 best plant nurseries in the UK: "Billy Carruthers is mad about peonies and has over 300 varieties on the nursery. In recent years he's exhibited them at the Chelsea Flower Show. However, they're just the tip of the iceberg for this nursery, midway between Glasgow and Edinburgh, Central Scotland"
